Award Winning Associate Panel
Master Photographer Association
In 2016 I decided to take a leap and join the Master Photographers Association with a very clear goal in mind: To create a portrait panel that celebrated childhood in its purest, most unfiltered form.
To me, portraiture has never been about just documenting a face. It’s about capturing a flicker of emotion, a glint in the eyes, a burst of laughter, or even the quiet, thoughtful moments when a child is lost in their own world. It’s those in-between expressions, honest, vulnerable, and utterly human, that I find most powerful.
I began curating a body of work drawn from my children’s portrait sessions. I aimed to honour the full spectrum of childhood: the joy, the wonder, the seriousness, the wildness, and everything in between. This exploration evolved into what would become my Associate Panel submission.
And in 2017, something extraordinary happened. That panel went on to win me the “Best Associate Panel” award from the Master Photographers Association...a moment I’ll never forget.
But more importantly, it reminded me why I do what I do:
To capture connection. To preserve truth. To celebrate the beauty in fleeting, everyday moments…and to turn them into art that speaks, long after the moment has passed.
